The purpose of our Sunday Gatherings is to serve the Missional Communities and be a reflection of the people that are there. As we are still forming the culture of these gatherings, we’d love to get your feedback. Take a couple minutes and post your first flinch from last night as you drove home (or sat at Slices).
What did you learn last night?
What moments stick out to you as you think back?
Go ahead. Leave a comment…

learn last night- many, many, many things but the one i’ll mention is the beauty of rawness. Brad, thank you so much for your comment about heaven, i think a lot of people are/have been there and are sometimes afraid to say it. Your gifts are so necessary to the body.
moments that stick out- being taught communally and really being challenged was so enlightening. may god be glorified as the spirit prompts us to gospel each other like crazy!

I loved how easy it was to get off the “scheduled program” a bit and discuss as a group things like the role of the trinity and desiring heaven

Ditto on both counts. I was thinking the discussions that arose there were awesome and practically applied. I thought the time was just awesomely worshipful. The story Erik shared of the treasure in the field really brought it home in the context of our discussion, realizing that the real treasure isn’t merely a vague idea of tangible blessings in heaven or the enjoyment of the present world. But specifically that the capital-T Treasure is fellowship with the God of the universe:

He makes heaven an awesome place to be because He’s there. He makes wives and children beautiful because of His reflection and great work in them. Knowing God and His good character is what makes life worth living now, and life eternal awesome.
I forget how that came from One Peter… except to remember the living hope we have due to the promises of God, fulfilled in Himself through Christ! I’m excited to see how that living hope will be working its way out in this community.

1. The first thing that stuck out to me was the way that Amy could ask “what is eschatology” and it wasn’t awkward at all. I think a lot of times we act like we know a lot more than we do- (and by we i mean me)- and that prevents real learning from taking place. The humility and freedom to ask a definition of a word other people look confused about too stuck out in my mind.
2. Singing in Christ Alone after the discussion seemed like I Peter 1.3-9 in poetry to me as we sang it. I was loving it.

I’ve got a prayer request:
Yesterday I was having a lot of trouble with my eye, so I stopped by the doctor to see if they could check it out. Turns out I have a corneal ulcer (basically an open sore on my cornea). It’s extremely painful, red and puffy, and very sensitive to light. I have to put drops in every hour, even during the night, which does not allow for a very restful night. After it heals, I will have to use another medication to try and break up the scar tissue that will form. Please pray that it would heal quickly with minimal scar tissue, that I would be able to feel rested, and that I wouldn’t get too behind in my classes. I had to skip last night and am unsure about tonight’s class. Praise the Lord the ulcer is not in my direct line of vision as this could have caused permanent damage to my eyesight. Thanks for your prayers!
